Bauhaus – “House of Building” or “Building School” is synonymous for an architectural movement that combined crafts and the fine arts. The first Bauhaus school was founded in Weimar, Germany in 1919 with the idea of creating a total work of art in which arts and architecture would be brought together.
The Bauhaus philosophy became one of the most influential currents in modernistic architecture and design. Bauhaus Craftsman adopts this concept of total design with influences from Shaker fundamentals of form, fit, and function.
